Record-setting win!
The GW Eagles opened the road portion of their Piedmont District schedule with another easy victory. Playing in Bassett for the first time since 1966, The Eagles piled up 63 points to go 2-0 in the district.
For the fourth game in a row, the Eagles scored on their first possession, bulling into the end zone behind what we've taken to calling the "Stampede" formation. Later, the Eagles showed they could pass out of that formation as well! Four minutes later, the Eagles took to the air to score again. After Bassett responded with a tipped pass that resulted in a 78-yard touchdown, the Eagles went to the air again to get the points back.
From that point on, the rout was on. Hunter Byrnes set a modern-day GW record with a whopping FIVE touchdown passes! He also scored on two rushes, picking up 93 on the ground.

the second half, the Eagles rounded out their scoring with Sterling
Olivera's first high school touchdown!
The Eagles move to 5-0 with the win. Next up, Homecoming Friday against
Patrick County.
