First-quarter explosion!!
The GW Eagles stormed out of the gate. Aided in large part by four first-quarter turnovers by Martinsville, the Eagles used good field position to and big plays to jump out to a 35-0 lead just ten minutes into the game. From there, the Eagles cruised to their fifth win in a row.
After going three-and-out on their first possession, the Eagles recovered a Martinsville fumble and scored on a 34-yard pass play. Later, after another Bulldog fumble, the Eagles scored again. GW then parlayed an interception to set up a 24-yard run from Jamil Griffin. Three minutes later, Isaiah Guzman scored to make it 28-0 GW.
Then the Eagles would use their defense to score their final touchdown of the first quarter. It remained 35-0 into the second half, then Donald Smith took a short catch and turned it into points.
The Eagles head back to Henry County this Friday to take on the Bassett Bengals.
