Week 6

For 23 and-a-half minutes, the Tunstall Trojans executed their game plan flawlessly. They used power running and counter plays to dominate time of possession. The Trojans scored a touchdown with 36.4 seconds left in the first half to tie the game at 14-14. It looked like we would be knotted up going into the half. But the GW Eagles scored ten points in 36 seconds to close the first half. They then scored five touchdowns in the second half to win their third consecutive Piedmont District game via blowout.

The Eagles started out with an uncharacteristic three-and-out on their first set of downs. Tunstall then embarked on a 13-play, 81-yard drive that took more than six minutes off the clock to take a 7-0 lead. The Eagles scored twice to take the lead, but a second touchdown from Trevor Lovelace tied the game up with 36.4 seconds left in the half.

But the Eagles used a two long runs and a penalty to set up a gorgeous fade pattern from Carlos Poole to Shawn Watlington to re-take the lead with ten seconds left. Then, Tunstall fumbled the subsequent kickoff...and Jerry Horng made them pay.

Tunstall opened the second half with a solid drive, but the Eagles defense eventually stopped it on fourth down. After that, it was all GW as the Eagles scored touchdowns on their next five possessions to ice the game.
