2023 Week 11

The G.W. Eagles played one of the region's top teams toe-to-toe to open the 2023 VHSL Playoffs. One bad turnover was the different as the Eagles dropped a 20-13 decision to the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers.

JF got a field goal on their opening drive, but otherwise the Eagles defense held the Cavs at bay. With the score still 3-0, a tipped pass from Neo Cabell was picked off and returned for a touchdown to stretch the JF lead to 10-0 at halftime.

The defensive struggle continued in the second half. JF added a field goal in the third quarter, but the Eagles answered on a short touchdown run to make it a 13-7.

In the fourth quarter the Cavs re-took a two score lead with a touchdown, but the Eagles answered quickly to get back to within a score. The Eagles had the ball late but opted to punt on a 4th and 22 with two-and-a-half minutes left. The Eagles could not get the ball back. They closed their 2023 campaign with a 6-5 record.
